Padre Pio Dark Roast is a Nicaraguan dark roast from Guadalupe Roastery, crafted in honor of Saint Pio of Pietrelcina — Capuchin friar, mystic, stigmatist, and one of the most beloved saints of the 20th century. • French press — the natural method for a dark roast; full immersion brings out the body and lets the sweet residual finish develop; the dark chocolate depth is most pronounced here
• Espresso and moka pot — Padre Pio pulls a bold, full-bodied shot; the sweet finish cuts through milk cleanly in a latte or cappuccino
• Drip — the balanced body holds up well at standard brew strength; the sweet finish is most apparent in a drip brew, especially black
• Cold brew — 14–16 hours, coarse grind; the sweet residual finish is amplified cold while the dark chocolate notes stay grounded

About Padre Pio

Born May 25, 1887 in Pietrelcina, Italy, Saint Pio entered the Capuchin Order and was ordained a priest in 1910. In 1918, he received the stigmata — the visible wounds of Christ — which he bore for 50 years until his death. He spent most of his life at San Giovanni Rotondo, known for his holiness, the gift of bi-location, and an extraordinary ability to read souls in the confessional. He passed away September 23, 1968, and was canonized by Pope John Paul II in 2002. Feast day: September 23.
