Hario Technica 5-Cup Coffee Siphon, 600 mL
✅ 30-Day Satisfaction Guarantee — Arrived damaged, wrong, or defective? We'll replace it or refund you, no hassle.
The Hario Technica TCA-5 is a 5-cup, 600 mL manual coffee siphon with heat-resistant borosilicate glass chambers and a stainless steel stand. I’d choose it for a slower morning when I want to pay attention to the brew instead of pressing a button and walking away.
Why I like it
I like being able to see the coffee-making process. The clear upper chamber and rounded lower bowl put the brew in view, making this a different experience from a machine that hides everything inside its housing. I’d set it up on a clear, stable surface, get my coffee ready, and give the session my attention. That’s the appeal for me: making coffee becomes the break, not another task to finish.
The construction is another detail I appreciate. The glass bowls are paired with a stainless steel stand, burner cover, and filter, plus brass fasteners and an aluminum windbreak. I’d still handle the glass carefully. Heat resistance is useful, but it isn’t a reason to rush assembly, expose hot glass to cold water, or skip the care instructions.
I’d use the 600 mL capacity to plan a small batch to share, rather than assume the 5-cup name means five large mugs. With manual brewing, I’d start from Hario’s recipe, keep track of my dose and grind, and change one thing at a time. Reusable filtration makes cleaning part of that routine, so I’d finish each session by caring for the filter before the next brew.

Good to know
Is this an automatic electric brewer?
No. This is a manual siphon with a burner setup. I’d follow Hario’s heating and operating instructions and stay with it while brewing.
Does it make espresso?
No. It’s a vacuum coffee brewer, not a pressurized espresso machine.
How should I clean it?
I’d let the parts cool, avoid sudden temperature changes, and follow Hario’s glass and filter-care instructions.
