Coffee oils build up inside a brewing group and on its removable metal parts. Espresso Parts Puro Caff is a powdered cleaner for removing that residue from compatible espresso machines. This 20 oz (566 g) container is for cleaning coffee oils, not for descaling mineral buildup.

Backflushing
Check your machine manual first. The supplied directions call for up to 1/2 teaspoon (3 g) in a blind filter per group head. Run the brew cycle for 10 seconds, stop for 10 seconds, and repeat five times. Remove and rinse the portafilter, then repeat the cycle five times without powder. Make and discard one espresso to check that the group is thoroughly rinsed.
Soaking removable metal parts
Mix 1 teaspoon (6 g) per 32 oz (1 L) of hot water. Soak filters and the metal portion of the portafilter for 30 minutes, then rinse with clean hot water. Do not soak the handles. Take care with hot solution and follow the label instructions.
