Distribution Tools (WDTs)
The Weiss Distribution Technique — WDT — is one of the simplest and most effective interventions in espresso prep. A thin needle tool, stirred through the grounds in the portafilter before tamping, breaks up clumps and redistributes the dose evenly. The result is more consistent water flow through the puck, fewer channeling issues, and a more repeatable extraction.
It’s a small step that makes a measurable difference — which is why it’s standard practice in most serious home setups and many cafés.
