Hario V60 Ceramic Coffee Dripper 02, Dune

If you want to get into pour-over coffee, the Hario V60 is the name you'll run into most, and the 02 ceramic dripper is the classic version. It brews one to four cups in about three minutes, and it's the dripper so many cafés and home brewers build their morning around. This one's handmade in Japan from heat-retaining porcelain, in a warm dune shade that looks right at home next to a bag of beans and a wooden spoon.

How it works: the cone shape and the large single hole put you in charge. The spiral ribs inside let air escape so the coffee bed drains evenly instead of stalling, and because the hole is one big opening, your pour speed genuinely shapes the flavor. Pour slower for more body, quicker for something brighter and cleaner. It takes a little practice to dial in, which is part of the fun, and it rinses clean in seconds when you're done.

Ceramic holds heat better than a plastic dripper, so pre-heat it with hot water before you brew to keep your temperature steady through the pour. You'll also want Hario Size 02 paper filters (we carry the 100-count white ones) and, for the most controlled pour, a gooseneck kettle.
