The classic Chemex, with the wood collar
This is the Chemex 6-Cup Classic Series Coffeemaker: the hourglass-shaped glass brewer with a polished wood collar and leather tie, rather than a glass handle. Add a Chemex Bonded Filter and ground coffee, pour hot water slowly, then serve a clean cup straight from the carafe.
What to know before you buy
- Capacity: 30 ounces. Chemex measures one cup as 5 ounces, so “6-cup” doesn't mean six large mugs.
- Material: nonporous borosilicate glass with a polished wood collar and leather tie
- Size: 8½ inches tall × 5⅛ inches in diameter
- Compatible filters: Chemex Bonded Filter styles FP-1, FC-100, and FSU-100
If you like a hands-on pour-over routine and the original wood-collar look, this is the version to choose. Make sure you've got a matching filter for your first batch.
