This milk-steaming kit includes a 12 oz stainless-steel frothing pitcher, clip-on thermometer, and 16 × 16-inch microfiber cloth. Together, they cover the basic workflow for steaming milk, monitoring temperature, pouring, and wiping down the steam wand afterward.
If you are still learning to judge milk temperature by touch, use the thermometer. Guessing is not a technique. The dial gives you a visible reference while you learn how the pitcher feels as the milk heats.
What is included in the milk-steaming kit?
- 12 oz frothing pitcher: 1.3mm 18/8 stainless steel with a precision pour spout and double-reinforced handle
- Clip-on steaming thermometer: 1.75-inch dial, 5-inch stem, marked target range, and NSF approval
- Microfiber cloth: 16 × 16 inches for routine cleaning around the steam wand and pitcher
What temperature should you steam milk to?
A practical starting target is 140–155°F. Clip the thermometer to the pitcher so the stem sits in the milk without touching the bottom, then watch the temperature as you steam. Stop before the milk overheats and follow the instructions for your espresso machine and the milk you are using.
The thermometer is especially useful while you connect the number on the dial with the temperature you feel through the stainless-steel pitcher. Over time, that makes steaming by touch less of a blind guess.
What is a 12 oz milk pitcher best for?
A 12 oz pitcher is a compact option for preparing milk for one smaller latte, cappuccino, or similar drink. Leave enough room for the milk to circulate and expand while steaming rather than filling the pitcher to the top.
The right starting volume depends on the drink, milk type, steam power, and how much foam you are creating. Use only what you plan to serve so you are not repeatedly heating leftover milk.
Why is the microfiber cloth included?
Milk residue can dry quickly on a hot steam wand. After each use, follow your machine’s cleaning instructions, wipe the wand carefully with the cloth, and purge it as directed. Regular cleanup is much easier than dealing with residue after it has hardened.
Who is this kit for?
Choose it if you are learning to steam milk at home and want the core tools in one set. It is also practical for anyone replacing a mismatched pitcher, kitchen thermometer, and random dish towel with equipment meant for the coffee station.
