More Than Just the Coffee
Sometimes it's more than just the coffee. It's about the people behind it and how much they care about their customers. That's rare these days, right? Clout Coffee is one of those roasters where you can tell it matters to them, and that care shows up in the bag. Their new Light Roast whole bean comes in a 16 oz bag, and I've been happily pulling shots with it all week.
Right Out of the Bag
This is a great, consistent coffee. It smelled good the moment I opened the bag, and it ground well right from the start. So far I've picked up some caramel and a sweetness I haven't found in other coffees. I look forward to how the taste comes in as it ages over the next few days.
Dialing It In
Once again, I landed at 10 on the Niche grinder. That gave me 37 grams in 30 seconds, with my temperature at about 195°F. Right on the money the first time. That doesn't always happen!
In the Cup
So far I really like it as an espresso. And it's not just me: others have told me it makes a very good cup of coffee too. Whether you're pulling shots or brewing a pot, this one holds up and so far is a good crowd pleaser.
The Bonus Round
Here's a nice bonus: it comes in a slightly bigger 16 ounce bag than other roasters use. More coffee is never a bad thing.
It also made the whole house smell great. Guests noticed the smell the moment they walked in, and I can't say that's a bad thing either.
The Verdict
Clout Coffee's Light Roast is a consistent, sweet, caramel-forward coffee from people who clearly care about their customers. It shines as espresso, makes a very good cup, and fills the house with a great aroma. If you love dialing in shots, this one is worth a spot on your counter.
